ELViS PRESLEY- THE KiNG OF ROCK AND ROLL

          Elvis Presley, a man known as the king of Rock and Roll, was a musical influence to many of his fans as well as his fellow artists. He was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He began his singing career in 1954 with Sun Records and by 1956, he was an international sensation. He sang with a unique style and voice that combined his diverse musical background with the music culture at the time. His music showed America a whole new generation of music and pop culture.
          Not only did Elvis sing, he starred in 33 films, and won 3 grammys and 14 grammy nominations. He sold over 1 billion records more than any other artist and won 150 awards for his albums and singles. Also, he served in the US army without any special priveliges due to his status. Elvis was a very modest man as well as generous and he cared as much for his fans as he did his music.
          His many talents, good looks, humor, and charisma pulled millions of fans towards him. He was known all over the world and was seen as one of the most well-known figures of the 20th Century pop culture. Unfortunately, Elvis died on August 16, 1977 in his Memphis home at the age of 42.
